Martha Kingcart
( - )
Various books (one of these is Genealogies of Virginia Families: From Tyler's Quarterly, Volume I, p. 617) that tell stories of John Marr of Stafford Co, state that Martha was the only child of Mary Marr and Thomas Kingcart Jr. Kingcart died intestate and Marmaduke Beckwith was granted administration, 5 Sep 1716. He had died prior to 22 Sep 1715, as on that day, Mary Kingcart, of Richmond Co, petitioned for grant of 125 acres of waste land near the Great Marsh and adjacent land of John Marr and John Hopper.
Martha married first John McBee by whom she had a son, John. Married second Dr. William Kirns/Kernes. John McBee died prior to 1744, when she was named as Martha Kirns in her grandfather's will.
In 1741, William Kirns voted in the election for Burgesses in Prince William County. In 1755, William Kirns acknowledged a deed to James Tinson - Martha his wife, relinquished dower. William Kirns/Keirns, was likely one of the 4 orphans of Robert Kirns of King George County, listed as William, Mary, Katherine, and Ann, in 1727.
William Kirn's will is in Fauquier Co VA WB 3, p.297, dated 18 Dec 1799; proved 27 Sep 1802. He devised to daughter Elizabeth, wife of Jacob Stadler, 50 acres where she was living; son John, 50 acres where he lived, to son Daniel the remainder of that tract, about 82 acres. To son William 50 acres in Patuxent, and to John McBee, son Thomas and daughter Ann Kirns, 50 acres each of the same tract. All the rents of Burke's Purchase to be equally divided among all children. Land given daughter Elizabeth after the death of her & her husband to go to to grandson, Benjamin Horton. Son John to be executor. Burke's Purchase had been devised 100 years earlier to Thomas Kingcart Jr. of Calvert County, MD.
