Sam Benton Womack lived at RFD 6, Paris, TX. He was born 14 Mar 1894, Blossom, TX. Mrs. Johnye Bell Womack of the same address would always know his. He was employed at Camp Maxey, Paris in the VS Eng. Dept.
Camp Maxey was a World War II infantry training camp ten miles north of Paris, activiated 15 Jul 1942. An artillery range, obstacle course, infiltration course and German village were included in training maneuvers. German prisoners of war were also held there. It was put on inactive status, 1 Oct 1945 and later used by the Texas National Guard.
