Don C. Skieens, 81, of Wright City, passed away May 21, 2008, at the Broken Bow Nursing Home. He was born May 11, 1927, in Broken Bow the son of James Robert and Mary Isabelle (Bryant) Skieens.
Don was a member of the First Assembly of God, Wright City. He served his country in the U. S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 74, where he received a lifetime membership and recently was recognized for his service in WWII. Don served as under sheriff for the McCurtain County Sheriff Dept. in 1967. For 40 years Don started the 4th of July firework celebration for Wright City. Don was a hard worker, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Don leaves to cherish his memory his wife Eola Skieens, Wright City; three children, Donna Watkins and husband Charley, Broken Bow, Jolene Cunningham and husband Bub, Wright City and Jim Bob Skieens and wife Becky, Wright City; two step-children, Laura Johnson and husband Bobby Scott and Clint Geller and wife Lila, Valliant; ten grandchildren and twelve great-granchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Wright City. Bro. Lynn Gaskey and Bro. David Rowe will officiate. Interment will follow at Slater Memorial Cemetery, Wright City.
