William Buster

(Abt 1729 - Bef May 1793)

I believe William's birth and marriage dates to be estimates. I have not found anything to support his presence in Albemarle Co. I did find that there was a Claudius Buster who served in the Revolution and gave a birth date and place as Albemarle - that has been picked up and ascribed to Claudius Buster, the son named in William's will. This not match with the pension application of son Michael, but perhaps it explains where the "Albemarle" location originated. The Claudius Buster from Albemarle also stated that his father was John Buster. There were likely two men of the same name and perhaps there was a relationship not known.

William's son Michael stated in his pension application that he was born in Caswell Co, NC on 6 Aug 1757 [this would have been still Orange Co NC in 1757] and that his family moved to Fincastle Co in Virginia in 1772. That area became Washington Co and is now Russell Co. After the Revolution Michael lived in Montgomery Co VA until it was divided into Wythe Co and until 1812 when he moved to Pulaski Co KY where he was still living at the time of application.

There is a survey for William Buster for 639 acres in Orange Co NC. Caswell was formed out of Orange in 1777.
May Court 1763, Orange Co NC: William Bustard was included to "work on the Road whereof Daniel Duncan is Overseer"
William Buster is said to have sold 382 acres to James Wilson - county not given.
William Bustert of Montgomery Co VA sold to Claudius Buster of Guilford Co NC, 265 acres, the same as 265 acres that William bought of Ward in Orange Co in 1770. Witnesses were John and Elizabeth Buster.
