Simeon was born in Granville County SC, child of Simon and Mary Priddom Wright Clements. He married Elizabeth Allen Yarbrough early in life, they finally coming to Red River County in December 1841 where they completed raising their family. Elizabeth died in 1859 and was buried on the family farm, which burial location later became known as the Scott Cemetery
