22 Feb 1788 William Kellar & "Abacah" his wife to Thomas Allen for 250 #'s. A tract on the South River of Shanandoah, cover to John Overall containing 375 acres. Part of two tracts. One of 149 acres grated Abraham Keller by patent 14 Dec 1788. The other part being part of a tract of 7000 acres granted Jost Hite & Co who disposed of a certain quantity to Paul Froman who disposed of 226 to the said Abraham Keller who by his Last Will & Testament did bequeath the above two parcels of Land to his son, William Keller. About 1790, William & Rebecca went with Col. Netherton and family and the Hardings to the French Broad River area of Tennessee where they stayed about five years.

1795. William Keller first appears on the Fayette Co KY tax list.
1796. William Keller was on the Jefferson Co KY tax list on Harrod's Creek. This would later become Oldham Co KY.

9 Dec 1817. Will probated in Jefferson Co KY. Dated 5 Aug 1811. He desired that the estate be kept together for the benefit of wife and children except for Abraham who was to take charge of his land immediately. Abraham is to have the tract purchased of Sam'l Griffin. At death or intermarriage of wife, the land, mill & distillery to sons Abraham & John, jointly. To son John part of the home tract. To daughters all of personal estate including Negroes except the one given Abraham. Gifts to son Abraham & daughter Elizabeth to be charged to them Negroes to be sold among the children only. Executors: Wife, son Abraham Kellar and son-in-law Abraham Kellar.

His widow Rebecca married Lewis Wilhoyte [Wilhoit].

18 Oct 1818. Sales of the estate included the following buyers: Abraham Kellar, Abraham H. Kellar, Joel Heitt, Julius Wilhoyte, Springer Augustus, Allen Wilhoyte, Humphrey Wilhoyte, Joseph Wilhoyte, Moses Kellar, Henry Netherton, Joseph Kellar, Benjamin Allen.

16 Aug 1819. Rebecca Kellar, part of her dower $5,566.30.

William & Rebeckah are buried the Kellar Graveyard, now on the Thomas Ingram farm near Brownsboro. He died 1817. Rebecca, consort of William Kellar, Mar 8 1777 - Jan 31 1863.

24 Jan 1821. Indenture between Abraham Kellar & Elizabeth his wife, Springer Augustus & Nancy his wife, Moses Kellar & Catharine his wife, Thomas C. Powell & Rebecca his wife, the said Elizabeth, Nancy, Catharine & Rebecca being daughters & heirs of William Kellar sell to Abraham H. Kellar & Joel Hite for $2,350. $587.50 to each daughter for 237 1/2 acres on Harrods Creek, part of 400 acres conveyed by the heirs of Moses Kukendall dec'd to William Kellar. 25 Sep 1821. Motion of Abraham H. Kellar & Joe Heitt at September Court it was ordered that Richard Barbour, James Barbour, Felix Seymore, Solomon Dunagan & Philip C. S. Barbour divded 237 1/2 acres between the North & South Forks of Harrods Creek, the late estate of William Kellar. Alloting to Abraham H. Kellar & Joel Heitt 7/9 [their own 2 shares, plus the 4 shares of the sisters above, but that omits 1 share]
Pauline & Diana Kellar 2/9. Abraham Kellar & Joel Heitt claim 1/9 each, Abraham in his own right & Joel in right of his wife, late Sarah Kellar. 5/9 by right of purchase from the five other heirs. Pauline & Dianna claim their 1/9 each as heirs of William Kellar. Rebecca Kellar, mother & guardian of Pauline & Diana consented. Jefferson Co KY Deed Book 4, p.248-250

Rev. William Keller of German extraction was born in Shenandoah Co VA in 1768. His early life was spent in East Tennessee, and afterwards in what is now Oldham Co KY. He was instrumental in forming Harrod's Creek Church in 1797, Eighteen-Mile Church in 1800 and Lick Branch [now LaGrange] Church in 1802. He was moderator of the Long Run Association when formed and filled that office for 4 years. He raised a company of volunteers in the War of 1812 and was commissioned their captain.
More about William Kellar was told by his nephew. Some of the facts include the following. He was the youngest of eight children; his mother died soon after his birth. His father died when he was still a youth. He married the daughter of Col. John Netherton of Shenandoah Co VA and moved soon after to somewhere on the French Broad river in Tennessee. Kellar was influenced by the ministry of Jonathan Mulkey. He died at 49 years of age on 6 Nov 1817.
