Deposed in 1741, that he was aged 46.

Married Susannah Fleming Bates, daughter of Charles & Susanna Fleming and widow of John Bates. She was a sister to Ursula, wife of Tarlton Woodson. They had no children.

John Woodson, dec'd father of John Woodson, died possessed of tract called Dover Tract which he gave to his several children: John, Robert, Josiah, Stephen, Judith & Elisabeth. Being under suspicion of large measure was surveyed & found a large quantity of surplus land which the Council granted me a patent for. Land devised to my brother Robert & sold by him to Col. Thomas Randolph I give unto the heirs of Thomas Randolph according to the ancients. I give the same to my brother Josiah's heirs. To Stephen, Judith & Elisabeth after the same manner.
All the rest of my real & personal estate to wife Susanna.

Susannah Fleming Bates Woodson made a will proved in Goochland, 15 Nov 1757 which named her sons Charles, Fleming, John & James Bates, and a daughter Hannah Easley.
