Individual Details

I believe Parthenia was born in Tennesse, or perhaps Mississippi circa 1838. Probably came to Johnson Co, Arkansas with her mother Delitha, circa 1851. Parthenia's age given as 26 in the 1880 Census but this is wrong because in 1850 she was already age 12.

She married George William Haggard, as his second wife. He was some 25 years older than she and had grown children by his first wife, Zitha Rogers. There exists online a database of Haggards and not everything in that database is correct regarding this family.

1850. Tippah Co MS. "Delilah" Hays, widow, age 53 born NC with Parthena age 12 born TN. Also 3 young girls live with Delitha - Mary and Alethe Ball, ages 11 & 9, and Elizabeth Vincent age 4.
I believe this Parthenia Haggard to be Parthenia Hays of the 1850 Census and the same lady that testified when Martha Frances (Crutcher) Hays applied for the Union Civil War Pension of Elias. Parthenia stated she was present at their marriage.

Thenia, wife. Age appears to be 26 which is impossible. Born AR as were parents.
Martha E., daughter, age 10. "Willie" age 8 marked as a son but this has to be Rella. Marked as twin with, Sarah, daughter age 8. Thenia, daughter age 3 and Washington, son, age 4.

1900 Census lists Thena Haggard, age 65, born Jan 1835, widowed. Says she was born in Arkansas as were both her parents. Perhaps she did not give this information. She lived next door to W. W. Haggard, a stepson. Said 5 children born, 5 living. The Haggard data also listed a 6th child, a Mary Frances, "Mae", born about 1875 who married Steven Denny & had 10 children - she was not listed in the 1880 Census with the family but would certainly fit age-wise. I am not sure she belongs here but I apparently have autosomal matches to descendants.
