Margaret Mary Hogan, age 74, long time Kerrick resident, died on Sunday, September 12, 1993 at the Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake. She was born in Aitkin, MN on November 9, 1918, the daughter of John E. and Adele (Raboin) Johnson. After graduating from Deer River High School, she attended St. Benedict's College in St. Joseph, MN. She completed her post graduate work at Macalester College in St. Paul.

Margaret taught in Askov for 10 years, in Deer River for 3 years and in Pine City for one year. On January 8, 1942, she married Richard Hogan in Seattle, WA. They lived in Kerrick for 43 years. Margaret was a member of the Minnesota Teachers Organization, the St. Michael's Ladies Guild, the Kerrick Women's Bowling Club, co-owner of the Deer River Airport and a volunteer at the North Pine Area Hospital for many years. She loved playing board games with her family and friends, solving crossword puzzles, and reading mysteries, but her favorite pastime was shopping.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Richard, three sons, Michael (Kathleen) of Omaha, NE, Patrick (Mary) and Rick, of Duluth; five daughters, Mary Kristin "Kris" (Jim) Saloum and Mary Therese "Mitzi" (Norman) Johnson, of Duluth; Kathleen (Dave) Weulander and Barbara (Larry) Johnsen, of Askov, and Mary Elizabeth "Liz" (Mitch) Clausen of Bruno; one brother, John W "Bud" (Barbara) Johnson, a sister, Genevieve (Archie) Rasmussen of Apple Valley, MN, a sister-in-law, Beverly Mindrum of St. Paul and 19 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, September 15, 1993 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sandstone with Monsignor Michael Hogan and Rev. Terry Rasmussen officiating. Interment was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Kerrick.
