Dorothy Ress , 83, of New Ulm, and formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with the Rev. Edward Ardolf officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m, Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by sons, Michael and wife Carrie Ress of New Ulm, Charles and wife Renae Ress of Hutchinson; daughter, Lois and husband David Stevenson of Zumbro Falls; 11 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; brother, John Felber of Mankato; sisters, Marcella Bierman of North Mankato, Mary Schmidt of Mankato, and Marguerite and husband Harvey Akkerson of Sauk Rapids; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley Ress; and brothers, Mitchel, Joseph, Leo and Francis.
She was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Easton, Minn., to Frank Xavier and Mamie C. (Raboin) Felber. She received her education at the Catholic school in Easton. On Feb. 10, 1946, she married Stanley Jacob Ress in Easton. They made their home in Wells., Minn., until 1958, when they moved to Portage, Wis. In 1967, the moved to Sleepy Eye. Stanley died on March 16, 1986. In 1987, she moved to Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. She enjoyed cooking and canning. She was very active in her church. Her greatest joy was being a grandma.
