Marguerite SAUCIER
(18 Sep 1794 - 9 Nov 1861)
Marriage info from church records of Notre-Dame de Montreal (FHL #0375848). The bride's name is given in both the index and the margin as Marguerite SAUVE. This is an error -- a later misreading of the original scribe's hand- writing. The name is spelled "Saucie" and does look like "Sauve," but the signature of Pierre Saucier at the bottom and a comparison with siblings' and children's baptismal records confirms that the name was SAUCIER, not SAUVE, which was a completely different family. The error is perpetuated in Bergeron's marriage repetoire for N.D. de Montreal.
