Notes

Birth

The book Lurquin Addition, by Dorothy Lutomski and Mary Ann Defnet, along with his obituary and other family records, all give Fred a birthdate of 23 December 1896. However, the Wisconsin, Births and Christenings Index, 1826-1908 and Wisconsin Births, 1820-1907 (both Ancestry databases) give a date of 23 Dec 1897. Since these latter are drawn from primary sources, I will have to go with these unless and until I can look at the contemporaneous record. It would put his birth just over a year before that of his sister, Dorothy -- close, but certainly not unheard of. It would also mean that he was only 17 years old at the time of his first marriage.

Included in this family were Fred Lurquin, age 21 (sic), a steel welder for the railroad; his wife, Marie, age 25; and son, Joseph, age 3 years and 3 months.
