According to the 1910 Census, Maria was full-blooded Menominee Indian, and Gregoire was three quarters white and one quarter negro. However, the other records I have found, such as the 1900 Census, list both of them as caucasian. Gregory's birth record indicates that he was half Native American.

Enumerated with this family were Gregware Ducharme, age 63, a gardener; his wife, Maria M, age 48; and children: Elsie L, age 23, a school teacher; and Roy G, age 13. Gregware and Maria had been married for 24 years. She had had two children, and both of them were still living. The family is listed in the section for Indian population, and all of the family members are reported to be Indian (although Maria certainly was not).
