François "Francis" RUELLE
(16 Nov 1800 - 17 Jul 1864)
François Ruel, son of François Ruel and Marie Madeleine Destroismaisons dite Picard, was born on 16 Nov 1800 and baptized the following day at Saint Gervais, Bellechasse, Québec, Canada. He married Marie Thérèse Plante, daughter of Antoine Plante and Marie Thérèse Boulet, on 15 Aug 1826 at Saint Charles, Bellechasse. They were the parents of fourteen children, most of whom were born and baptized at Saint Gervais. Their children included a set of twins, François Xavier and Laurent. By 1845, the year that their daughter Vitaline was born, the family had moved to Lambton, Beauce, Québec. By 1850, they had immigrated to the United States and resided in Green Bay, Brown, Wisconsin, where their fourteenth child was born. At the time of the 1860 federal census, Frank and his family lived in Mishicot, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. It was there that he died at the age of 63. Frank was interred in Holy Cross Church Cemetery in Mishicot. Please note that Frank's branch of the family generally used the "Ruelle" variation of the family surname in Wisconsin.

PLEASE NOTE: Some contributors (and genealogic "records") have conflated this François Ruel with another. They were first cousins, having grandparents Jean François Ruel and Marie Godbout in common. Both were natives of Saint Gervais. However, the François Ruel who was born in 1815 was the son of Charles Ruel and Louise Bernier. He married ANGÉLIQUE MORIN in 1841 and settled in Arthabaska, Québec by 1861. That François died in 1911 and was interred at Saint Norbert.
