A. Castonguay Dies at 78
Adolph Edward Castonguay, 78, retired lumberman and farmer who had resided in Missoula county 58 years, died in his sleep Thursday at his home at 1600 S. 2nd St.
Mr. Castonguay was born Jan. 21, 1877, in Quebec, Canada, and came with his parents to the Frenchtown community 58 years ago. He stayed there until 1911, when he moved to Milltown. He lived in Milltown until 1920, then moved to a ranch on Marshall Grade. He remained on the ranch until 1945, when he moved to the home on 2nd street.
He was a Catholic. He was employed by the Lumber Department of the Anaconda Co. until he went into ranching. He was married in Frenchtown in 1889 (???). His widow, Alice, survives a the family home. Other survivors are 11 children, 27 grandchildren and 11 grealt-grandchildren. Three children preceded him in death.
Surviving sons are Henry, Alcid, Ray, William and James of Missoula, Velmar and Robert of Renton, Wash.l, and Victor of Bonner. Daughters are Mrs. Alice Zander and Mrs. Doris Zander of Missolula, and Mrs. Florence Coates of Auburn, Wash. Two brothers survive; they are Frank of Missoula and Charles, who lives in Michigan.
Rosary will be recited at St. Anthony's Church Friday at 7:30 p.m. and requiem high mass will be celebrated there Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Ernest F. Burns will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Squire-Simmons-Carr Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
