Individual Details
Marie Catherine "Kate" BIBEAU
(6 Nov 1854 - 30 Apr 1931)
Marie Katherine (Kate) Bibeau was born on Nov 6, 1854 to Francois Antoine Bibeau 1818 St. Francois du Lac, PQ, Canada-1905 Bay Settlement, Brown Co, WI and his wife Marianne Laroque born c1826 in Green Bay and said to have died 1905 in L'Anse Baraga, MI. She was French Canadian with a bit of Native American blood from her mother.
Kate's Grandmother Catherine (Brunette) Laroque or LaRock c1791 was listed in the Mixed Blood register for the Menominee nation in 1836. Her mother was Catherine Gautier born c 1775 who married Jean Baptiste Brunette Jr born 1772. Baptiste's father was one of the first 7 families to settle in Green Bay (LaBaye) and he came to LaBaye around the time of 1775. His wife would have had to have been the Menominee for his Grand daughter, Catherine (Brunette) LaRock, to be declared 1/4 blood Menominee.
Interestingly enough, Catherine (Brunette) Larock's mother, Catherine (Gautier) Brunette born c1775 was herself a daughter of Charles Langlade's Sioux Slave and Langlade's nephew Charles Gautier c1737-1803. The Sioux slave was released sometime after Catherine Gautier (Brunette) was born and she went on to have two marriages. One marriage was to Hurtibise and the other to AntoineVCerdin dit Dubois. She had a daughter Marguerite (de Verville) Dubois who went on to marry Jos Rolette Sr.
In the baptismal record for Marguerite, 1/2 sister of Catherine Gautier (Brunette) it shows that their mother's name was Citerne, wife of Antoine Dubois. This was found at Found at st Borremeo's Catholic church in St Charles Mo. March 6/1794.
Citerine is the only name we know for this woman. Documents among the Mdewakanton Sioux (Dakota) Tribe indicate that Antoine DuBois' Sioux wife was the daughter of Chief WahPaSha, I of the Sioux c1718-1806 MN and sister to Chief Wabasha II who died in 1836 from Small Pox. Their Grandmother was Ojibewe/Chippewa from MN.
Cathereine Gautier (Brunette)'s father Charles Gautier was the Voyaguer son of Mare Louise Theresa Amiot Outaquais Villeneuve and 1/2 Ottawa. She was grand daughter to Chief KeWiNaQuot of the Little Traverse Band.
Coming back to Marie Katherine (Kate) Bibeau. She married Francois Xavier Landry/Londre on June 22, 1879 in Menominee, MI. He was a French Canadian with Acadian blood from Rene Landry.
Together Kate and Frank had 7 known children. Adelia or Odille Bibeau Londre in about 1870 per 1880 census (could be adopted), Alvina c1880, Edmond Londre 1882-1956, Noah 1885-1962 Charles? 1884, Ida Mary Farnsworth 1888-1941, and Hubert Londre 1891-1967. The name had been Landry but was changed to Londre during her lifetime it would seem.
Late died April 30, 1931 in Racine.
Francois Landry/Landry was born 10/16/1851 in Brown Co and is said to have died 10/8/1917. His grave has yet to be located.
(Note: I believe that this death date for Francis Xavier Landry is incorrect, because he shows up on the 1920 Census in Oshkosh.)
