Birth
Age 9 on 1916 Census. Birth record states that Marie Helene Graziella Gingras was born in the rural municipality of Ritchot, Manitoba, and that her mother`s maiden name was Heloise Alice Bertrand. The name Graziella no doubt was in honor of her aunt, Graziella Bertrand, and for whatever reason, this name evolved to Gabrielle by the 1916 Census (or did the enumerator enter it incorrectly. Ritchot was a small community south of Winnipeg, not far from Saint Boniface. I have not seen the name Heloise associated with Alice on other records, but this birth record is the only one that could match Gabrielle, and it matches satisfactorily on most points.Alt name
