Witnesses were interesting. Godfather was the child's uncle, Zotique Pariseau, but he was absent; a local merchant, Henri Guilbault represented him by proxy. The godmother, Nellie Ladébauche, was also absent, and was represented by proxy by "Demoiselle Berthilde Caty, de cette paroisse."Baptized as "Joseph Zotique Adelard." Usually went by simply Zotique."
The heading on Ancestry.com is "Cathedrale Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur'" but the handwritten marker on the side of the image reads, "St-Jacques-le-Mineur de Montreal."

Death
Left an estate of about $2000 to 25000, in the form of real estate. This was encumbered for years because of the difficulty of selling the property or collecting adequate rent. (Berthe had moved backto Montreal, to be with family.) Zotique's brother-in-law, Joseph Albert Hébert, assisted Berthe with the complications of the estate. He was a real estate agent.Endnotes
