William Theodore Justice

William T. (Bill) Justice, 72, of Bryn Mawr, a financial advisor and Vice President Investments for Wells Fargo Advisors died suddenly on Friday, April 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Anne Dutt Justice, and his daughter, Jennifer van Duten Justice and by his sisters, Susan Haden (Dan) and Melissa Mc Crary (Steve), a nephew and two nieces. Bill was born in Kenova, W. Va., delivered by his grandfather, Dr. James Isaac Justice. He was the son of Charles T. Justice and Rubye Copley Justice. His father was an engineering consultant and Bill attended numerous schools throughout the country as his family moved. He graduated from high school and college in Wilmington, N.C. He began his career in financial services in 1982 with Butcher & Singer in Philadelphia and stayed with the firm through various mergers. He said that he never left Butcher, the names just changed. He was a financial advisor for numerous private and corporate clients and for non-profit institutions including the Friends General Conference, the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation, the Genealogical Society of Philadelphia, and the Civil War Museum. He was a member of The Philadelphia Club, The Penn Club, the Bachelors Barge Club, the Merion Cricket Club, the Society of the Sons of St. George, the Rotary Club of Ardmore, the Men's Garden Club of Philadelphia, the Associates of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and was a life member of Mensa. He was a past member of The Union League of Philadelphia where he was President of the Inglenook Club. He was also a past President of the Stony Lane Club in Gladwyne. He served on the Board of ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth, was treasurer of the Bachelors Barge Foundation, and was a past Board member of the Atwater Kent Museum, the Montgomery County Community College Foundation, and the Lower Merion and Narberth Watershed. He cherished the few weeks he and his wife and daughter spent during each of the past 30 years on Deer Isle in Maine. He loved to travel, especially to Italy where he and his wife often traveled With their "posse" of twenty good friends they journeyed to destinations such as Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and throughout Europe, by river boat on the Danube, by sail in the Aegean, and by camel in Petra, Jordan. He counted dinner at the Library of Celsius in Ephesus, Turkey as one of the highlights of his life. He enjoyed running, bicycling, and long walks as well as gardening, woodworking, culinary experiments, and music his tastes ranged from classical to country to the Rolling Stones. He was known for his love of his wife and daughter, for his wonderfully bizarre sense of humor, and for his kindness and generosity to friends and acquaintances. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher's Church, Gladwyne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth, Rotary International's End Polio Now Campaign at www.rotary.org, or to St. Christopher's Church, Gladwyne.
