"Bill" Hughes, 90, former resident of Pampa, were held at 2 p.m. Monday April 18, 1988 at the Carmichael Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Jim Wingert, Methodist Minister, officiating, assisted by Rev. Jim Low, Pastor of the Interdenominational Church of Muleshoe. Graveside rites were conducted courtesy of Pampa Masonic Lodge 966 AF&AM, where he was a 32nd degree Mason with a lifetime membership. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael Whatley Funeral Home. Hughes died Friday, April 8, 1988 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder. Survivors include his wife, Madge Hughes of Mexia; two daughters, Lola May Hughes of Tallahassee, Fla. and Barbara Jean Wood of Snyder; a son Billie Pete Hughes of Pampa; a brother, James Darden Hughes of Muleshoe; a sister, Ora Pearl Brady of Eugene, Ore.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Darwin Allen, Billy Priddy, Pat Fangman, Noe Hernandez and grandsons Russell Hughes and Kenneth Wood, Jr.
