A memorial will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church at 10:30 on Saturday, August 31, 2013. She will be buried with her deceased husband LTC (Ret) James M. Morris, Jr. at Arlington National Cemetery later in the fall. Leila was born Aug 27, 1930 in Washington, DC. She attended Sweet Briar College and left after 3 years to marry her husband and join the Army life, finally retiring in the Columbus area in 1967. They were married for 56 years and were among the first residents at Spring Harbor of Green Island Hills. Leila maintained close friendships with Jim's West Point Class group, many Army families and friends, the Windsor Park community and friends at Spring Harbor. Leila was always an active volunteer in her community. She was most proud of her extended family, sponsoring and advocating for reunions and family gatherings of which there were many. Leila Booth Morris is survived by a sister Frances Booth Kincanon of Roanoke, VA; a daughter, Catherine Morris Green and her husband H. Peyton Green III of Penhook, VA; a son, James M. Morris IV and his wife, Kelly Hynes Morris of Columbia, SC; five grandchildren, H. Peyton Green IV and wife, Alissa, Austin Middleton Green and wife, Ashley, Leila Catherine Green, James M. Morris V (Roe), and Andrew Kevin Morris; two step grandchildren, Christopher Scott Hynes and Caroline Elizabeth Hynes and three great-grandchildren; Abigail Catherine Green, Caroline Roe Green, and James Austin Green. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation, 20 Horseneck Lane (2nd Fl.) Greenwich, CT 06830 or to Spring Harbor Foundation 100 Spring Harbor Dr. Columbus, GA 31904.
