Mrs. Hope Allen Hayes, 63, 2848 Hamilton-Mason Road, died Monday at 6:37 p.m. in Mercy Hospital where she had been a patient three weeks. she had been ill two years. She was born in London, Ky., March 29, 1908, a daughter of Robert and Nackie Gaines Allen, and was educated in the schools of Laurel County, Ky. She received a teacher's certificate from Sue Bennett College, London. On Sept. 28, 1929, she was married to John W. Hayes in Covington, Ky., and had resided in Hamilton since that time. For 16 years Mrs. Hayes was a substitute elementary school teacher in the Fairfield School System. She was a member of the St. Clair Ave. Baptist Church and was devoted to her home and family. Mrs. Hayes enjoyed flowers.
Members of family. She leaves her husband; two sons, Willis Dean Hayes, Hermosa Beach, Calif., Lt. James D. Hayes, Lexington park, Md., United States Navy; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Ann Harn, Redondo Beach, Calif.; five sisters, Mrs. Maude Dalton, London, Ky., Mrs. Hazel Straube , Cincinnati, Mrs. Georgie Gill, Hamilton, Mrs. Gladys Robinson, Norwood; other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Hodges. Private funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of the family in the Webb Funeral Home, Ross Ave. and S. D St., by the Rev. James Troxel of the St. Clair Ave. Baptist Church. There will be no visitation. burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park. Friends who so desire may contribute to the St. Clair Ave. Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Hayes.
