The State Journal-Register, Springfield, Illinois, November 26, 1988, Edition: M1,M2,S1, Page: 8: Harry Mabus Harry "Junior" Mabus, 64, of Girard died at 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Medical Center. He was born May 23, 1924, in Ina, the son of Harry and Pearl Ackley Mabus. He married Audrey Garvis Smith in 1978 in Palmyra. Mr. Mabus was a veteran of World War II and a member of AMVETS. He was employed as a truck driver for 46 years. Surviving are his wife, Audrey; one son, Terry Mabus of Imperial, Mo.; five daughters, Carol Ann Anderson and Pamela Dodson, both of St. Louis, Mo., Patricia Wilson of Imperial, Mo., Dawn Mabus of Hartford, Mich., and Sherry Mabus of Fargo, N.D.; four stepsons, Brian Smith of Chatham, David Smith of Imperial, Mo., Geoffrey Smith of Houston, Texas, and Jim Hilliard of St. Louis, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Cathleen Talkington of Girard; 22 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Mabus of Palmyra and Marion Mabus of South Carolina; and two sisters, Norma Jean Hanks of Girard and Jean Bettis of Palmyra. Berry Funeral Home, Girard, is in charge of arrangements.
