Kerrville Daily Times, Kerrville, Texas, Friday, January 4, 2008: San Antonio--Agnes Heim Easterwood, 92, died peacefully in her sleep and went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 28, 2007, in San Antonio. She was born on Aug. 24, 1915, in Anchor, Texas, and was the youngest daughter in a family of five sisters and two brothers. While growing up, she worked in her father's general store and helped with the family truck farm and cattle business. Early in her life, she enjoyed riding horses and hunting. Agnes was an elegant and beautiful young woman and was chosen to be the Football Queen for West Columbia High School and Miss West Columbia. She met Jack Easterwood when he was assigned to work in Brazoria County for the Texas Oil Company and married him in 1937. Agnes had one daughter. She helped her husband in multiple business ventures to include working in the South Texas oil fields in Brazoria County, an appliance business in Pasadena, Texas, and a homebuilding business in both Pasadena, Texas, and Conroe, Texas. Agnes enjoyed decorating homes for the building business. She also enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. When they retired, she supported her husband in his volunteer prison ministry in Huntsville, Texas, and hospital and juvenile ministries in Kerrville. Agnes was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Kerrville. She was the last living member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Easterwood, after 67 years of marriage. Agnes is survived by her daughter, Twila Beckey, and husband, retired Colonel Andrew Beckey of San Antonio; two grandsons, Mark Beckey of Pasadena, Calif., and Matthew Beckey of San Antonio; three nephews and five nieces. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a very caring and gracious lady and a very loving, patient and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 135 Methodist Encampment, Kerrville, with Pastor Sherry Strain officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Kerrville. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations in her memory be sent to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, P.O.
