Karl Joseph Kirkpatrick was born 18 October 1887, and died 12 Jun 1962 at Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado. He married Elizabeth Clarke of Miles City, Custer County, Montana on 26 June 1912. She was born 9 February 1893.

On the 1930 U. S. Census of Delta, Delta Co., Colorado, Karl J. Kirkpatrick appears with his wife Elizabeth and children Arthur, James and Jean. Karl is a clerk for forest service.

Kirkpatrick, 74, of 920 Rood Ave., a retired Forest Service employee, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lincoln Park Hospital. He had been ill for five months. Mr. Kirkpatrick retired in 1951. Beginning in 1910, he worked 15 years for U. S. land offices in Montana and Colorado. From 1928 until retirement he worked for the Forest Service in Mancos, Delta and Grand Junction. Latter he worked several years as bookkeeper for the Blevins-Denning Lumber Co. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, he had been active in the local congregation since moving to Grand Junction 29 years ago. He was a member of the Men's Club and the board of trustees, and was a former member of the choir. He also belonged to the National Association of Retired Federal Employee, Chapter 351.
Born in Carthage, Ill., he spent his early life there and graduated from Carthage Business College. He was married in Miles City, Mont., June 26, 1912, to Miss Elizabeth Clarke. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Arthur G. Kirkpatrick of Corona, Calif., and James R. Kirkpatrick of Grand Junction; a daughter, Mrs. Winfield (Jeane) Clymer of Grand Junction; a brother, Phillip G. Kirkpatrick of Elvaston, Ill.; nine grand children and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Martin's Chapel. The Rev. Marion G. Hixson will officiate. Cremation will follow. A memorial fund is being established at the church.
