Kirkpatrick of Grand Junction died Sunday in St. Mary's Hospital after a short illness. He was 79. Cremation has taken place. No services are planned. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a retired U. S. Postal Service clerk. He worked for the post office from 1946 to 1972. He was a Grand Junction resident since 1932. He was born Nov. 1, 1914, to Karl Joseph and Elizabeth Clarke Kirkpatrick in Helena, Mont. He spent his childhood and graduated from high school in Delta. He attended Mesa State College. He married Wilma Litsey on Sept. 15, 1940, in Glenwood Springs. She survives. according to his family, Mr. Kirkpatrick was a well-known author and wrote articles for several papers including, The Daily Sentinel, Denver Post, Senior Beacon and some national magazines. Other survivors include two sons, James Kirkpatrick of Denver and David Kirkpatrick of Aurora; a daughter, Billie Linder of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Jeane Clymer of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Arthur Kirkpatrick is deceased. Martin Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
