Thomas Kirkpatrick, who died of wounds in France, December 22, 1944, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in DeJong's Funeral Home with the Rev. George H. Ramsey officiating.
Military rites will be conducted at the grave in the Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The body arrived in Keokuk Tuesday with Military escort.
The son of the late Thomas Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Kirkpatrick, he was born January 24, 1921, in Auburn, Nebr., and came to Keokuk with his parents at the age of two years. His education was received in the public schools of Keokuk.
In May of 1942 he enlisted in the U. S. Ordinance Division of the army and received his training in Aberdeen, Md. After spending a year in the Panama Canal Zone he returned to the United States to spend several months at Atlanta, Ga. Shipped overseas to England, he was then transferred to France and died in Ruone on December 22, 1944 of gunshot wounds.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Thomas Kirkpatrick of Keokuk, a brother, William Kirkpatrick at home; and four sisters, Mrs. Goldie Cochenour, Mrs. Gladys Mardis, Mrs. Mildred South and Miss Hila Kirkpatrick, all of Keokuk. He was a member of the First Christian church.
