Mrs. Fred Coakley, 80, of rural route 1, West Chester, died Tuesday evening, May 18, 1976, at Washington County Hospital. She had been seriously ill for the past five weeks. Funeral Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Jones Funeral with the Rev. Dave Higdon officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Tessa Beatrice Chenoweth Coakley was born April 27, 1896, at Fulton County, Ill., the daughter of Elijah and Sara Parker Chenoweth. She was reared and educated in Fulton County, Ill. On Feb. 22, 1916, she married Fred Coakley at Iowa City. She had lived in Washington County for the past 64 years and was a member of Pythian Sisters Lodge in West Chester, Antioch Club, Home Arts Club and the Methodist Church in West Chester in which she had been quite active. Survivors include her husband, Fred Coakley of West Chester, one son, Orville Coakley of Crawfordsville; one grandson and two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Helle of Smithville, Ill. She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
