Jennie Hayes Sympson was born 14 October 1875. She married Henry Nesbitt Springer in May of 1899. He was born 1872 and died in 1904.
There were two (2) children born of the marriage.
In the Daily Republican newspaper at Decatur, Illinois, May 6, 1899: Coming Wedding. Friends in Decatur have received the following invitations: "Mr. and Mrs. Crittenden Sympson invite you to be present at the marriage of their daughter, Jessie [sic] Hayes and Henry Nesbitt Springer, Tuesday, May 16, at 1 o'clock, at Carthage, Ill. At home at Springfield, Ill." Mr. Springer is the cousin of Miss Mary Nesbitt of this city.
Daily Illinois State Journal, Springfield, Illinois, Wednesday, June 14, 1972, Page 10, Col. 1: Mrs. Jennie H. Springer, 96, of King's daughters Home at 541 Black Ave., who taught in the Springfield school system for 35 years, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dirksen House. Mrs. Springer was born in Carthage, and attended public schools there and Carthage College. She was founder of the Springfield Retired Teachers Association and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Springfield Chapter of the DAR and the Badge of the Princess Circle of King's Daughters. Surviving are one daughter, Mes. Jean Syphers of Los Angeles, Calif.; one grandson, and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Norman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
