The Quincy Daily Herald, Quincy, Illinois, Wednesday, August 22, 1894, Page 1: Death of Davis Colvin. One of Ursa's Time-Honored Pioneers Called to Rest. The death of Davis M. Colvin occurred at his home in Ursa township last evening. The deceased was one of the oldest citizens in the county. He was born in Pendleton county, Ky., February 23, 1815, and came to Adams County in 1838 and has resided in Ursa township ever since. He learned the cooper trade, but afterwards returned to the farm, where he lived for years and accumulated considerable property. His first wife was Miss Elizabeth Booth and by her he had five children. His second wife was Caroline Kirkpatrick who left two children. His third wife is Mary E. Hedges. Mr. Colvin was a charter member of lodge No. 12 of the Quincy Odd Fellows. He was trustee of the township for eighteen years and was a school director for years. The funeral will take place at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning at Ursa.
