Beaver, 98, will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at the Henry Borchardt Farm, formerly the Earl Winberg Farm, 53 Winberg Road, Chugwater, with ministers Glenn Sparks and Shawna Major officiating. Interment will be in the Chugwater Cemetery near Chugwater, with Anna Burchill officiating. He died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Life Care in Cheyenne. Buford was born Feb. 22, 1908, at Ulysses, Neb., the son of Byron and Mable (Kirkpatrick) Beaver. He moved with his family in an immigrant car to Hillsdale when he was four years old. The family resided there about a year before they moved to their homestead at Indian Hills north of Cheyenne. He lived there until 1937. Buford married Alice A. Hunnel on July 1, 1937, in Fort Collins, Colo., and they moved to the family farm/ranch east of Chugwater at that time. Buford lived in the family home until Nov. 1, 2006; he had six weeks at Life Care to share his life with the staff there. Buford belonged to a Christian fellowship and the fellowship meetings in his home were the highlight of his week. Buford herded sheep in his early years, then went into cattle, and began farming wheat with horses many years ago. He also enjoyed working with his barbed wire collection. Survivors include an adopted brother, W.S. Beaver of Hudson; four children and their spouses, Dora and John Eickbush, Elmer and Noaleen Beaver, all of Chugwater, Earnest and Phyllis Beaver of Hoquiem, Wash., and Bonnie and Carl Jordan of Waco, Texas; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice, on March 17, 1997; three brothers, Rista and two in infancy; a son, Charles O. Beaver; one grandson, Aaron Owen; and three sisters, Margaret, Pearl and Vivian. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Jackson, Virgil Jackson, Craig Jackson, Darold Hunnel, Frank Myers and Wallace Newton. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Borchardt, Cole Bordhardt, Rod Lerwick, Jerry Groat, Jim Lerwick, Michael Lerwick, Tim Johnson, Neil Olsen, Scott Ross and Frank Stofflet. Memorials to the Chugwater Ambulance Fund, in care of the Town of Chugwater, P.O. Box 243, Chugwater, WY 82210, would be appreciated by the family. Family and friends may call at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 2-5 p.m. Gorman Funeral Homes, Platte Chapel of Wheatland is in charge of the arrangements.
