Special to the Hawk Eye. Ft. Madison, Ia., Feb. 10---Robert Ranck, 84, of Pleasant Ridge township died at his home Monday after an illness of two days. He was a Civil War veteran. Mr. Ranck was born in Freeport, Ill., March 13, 1845. He resided in Hancock , Henry and Lee counties. For the past 44 years, he has lived at his Pleasant Ridge home. The deceased was married to Mary Tool on January 24, 1883 in Henry county. He enlisted in the army at the age of 18 and served from February 1865 to September 16 of the same year. He was a member of Co. C of the 14th Inf. regiment. Mr. Ranck is survived by his widow and two sons, Roy R. of Mt. Pleasant and Walter T. of West Point. Three grandchildren also survive. One son, Luther, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held from the Pleasant Ridge chapel Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Interment will be in Bethany cemetery.
