The obituary of Minerva Wine Wolf, Nella's mother-in-law, stated... survived by one daughter-in-law, wife of the deceased son, Mrs. Nella Wolf of Promise City, Iowa, who came and assisted in the caring for her [Minerva] during her last illness... Centerville Iowegian And Citizen, Centerville, Iowa, January 20, 1975: Nella Pettit. Relatives here have received word of the death of Mrs. Nella Wolf Pettit who passed away at Pomona, Calif. Friday, Jan. 17, 1975. Funeral services were held today in California with cremation following. services will be held here later this spring. Mrs. Pettit was born and reared in the Promise city community, the daughter of John and Stella Lord. She was married to Newton Wolf and to this union four children were born. He passed away in 1923. She later married Clyde Pettit and they lived in Seymour until his death. She then moved to California to make her home with her daughter, Cleo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde and one sister, Bonneel. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cleo DeSilvey of Ramona [Pomona] Calif., and Mrs. Iris Flack of Lakeland, Fla. two sons, Zomer Wolf of Newton and Jay Wolf of Alameda, Calif., two sisters Mrs. Gertrude Adams of Centerville, Mrs. Lyda Matsler of Canyon City, Texas and two brothers Harold Lord of Promise City and Fred Lord of Waukegan, Ill.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. John Lord on a farm east of Promise City on September 4, 1889. Nella grew up here, attended schools at Promise city, where she graduated in 1908. Married to Newton Wolfe of Unionville, Mo., on December 18, 1908 at Centerville, Iowa. Born to Nella and Newt were five children: Lela May, who died in infancy February 23, 1910. the other four children living are: Cleo of Coronado, Calif., Zomer of Newton, Iowa, Iris of Lakeland, Fla., and Jay of Alameda, Calif. Ten grandchildren also survive, and eight great grandchildren. Nella has two living brothers: Harold Lord of Promise City and Fred Lord of Waukegan, Illinois. She has two sisters: Gertrude of Centerville and Lydia of Canyon, Texas. Bonnie proceeded her in death.

After her marriage in 1908 she and Newt moved to a farm north of Unionville where they armed until 1920. The moved to Promise City in 1920. In 1920 she made confession at Church of Christ. Her husband, J. Newton, died in September 1923. She remained in Promise City for the next 25 years. All of her children attended and graduated from Promise City High School.

In 1948 she was married to Clyde Pettit of Seymour. She made her home in Seymour for 21 years. Clyde preceded her in death in 1968. In 1969, she went to Boone, Iowa, and made her home with her daughter, Iris until 1971. Wanting warmer climate, she moved to Coronado, Calif., to be with her daughter, Cleo. For three years she was in and out of the hospital, but never gave up hope. On Friday, January 17th she passed away. The funeral was held in Imperial Beach of Monday, January 20th. Interment will be later at the Promise City cemetery. Nella will be sadly missed by her host of friends, brothers, and sisters, and children.
