Andrew Jefferson Davis
(31 May 1831 - 6 May 1905)
In his youth, Andrew, in 1853, went to California, where he engaged in mining for nearly two years. He then moved to Missouri and settled in Clark County, where he began the study of medicine. He subsequently attended lectures in Chicago, and soon afterwards began to practice medicine in Clark County. He afterwards removed to Grundy County, Missouri where he remained two years. He then settled in Bedford, Livingston County, Missouri, where he continued his practice for four years more. From there he moved in 1866 to Bucklin, in Linn County, Missouri, where he practiced medicine until 1874, when he moved to a farm five miles southwest of Bucklin, and engaged in farming. In 1888 he became one of the earliest residents of Marceline, Missouri and lived there for the remainder of his life.
He is listed as Dr. A. J. Davis at Elmwood Cemetery, Marceline, Linn Co., Missouri.
