On the 1930 U. S. Census of Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, Royal Valentine age 29 appears with his wife Odessa and daughter Lena C. All were born in Missouri. Lena is 2 years 6 months old. Royal works as a salesman in an electric shop. They are all lodgers in the home of Garnett Tanner's. Royal and Odessa have been married for 4 years.
On the 1940 U. S. Census of Inyo Co., California, Royal B. Valentine states he is divorced. In 1935 he was living at Denver, Denver Co., Colorado. His occupation was caretaker of a gold mine.

BACKGROUND: Native of Unionville, Mo. Lived in Modesto 23 years. Air Conditioning mechanic for federal government for 18 years. Member Trinity Baptist Church and Modesto Barracks 689 of Ridgecrest. Past president Modesto Senior Citizen's Thursday Group. World War I Marine Corps veteran. Survivors: Wife, Elevenia Valentine of Modesto. Two children, Lana V. Holland of Irving, Texas, and Deborah [B] Smith of Rome, N.Y. Five grandchildren and three great grand-children. Remembrances: American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 305, Modesto 95353 or favorite charity.
