On the 1880 U. S. Census Theodore Briscoe is living with his father and stepmother at Riverton, Floyd Co., Iowa. Their last name is spelled Brisko on the census.
Newspaper clipping of unknown Iowa newspaper: Nashua, Ia--Funeral services for Theodore Brisco, 70, who died Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fangmeier, with whom he made his home, will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenfield Funeral home with Rev. R. C. Hufstader, pastor of Congregational church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. Brisco had been in poor health for the past year or more. He leaves three half sisters.
Obituary from Nashua Reporter, 28 May 1941: "Dode" Brisco, 70, Called by Death Last Saturday. "Dode" Brisco, 70, died Saturday evening at his room in the Fangmeier apartment at the Kirkland hotel, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Greenfield Funeral home, Rev. R. C. Hufstader officiating. Burial was made in Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were: Emory Speedling, Mack Wait, Will Corlett, Orio Stevens, Lew Maloy and Ed Crotty. Duets were sung by Mrs. C. L. Johnson and Miss Margaret Taylor, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Beulah Fairlie. The following obituary was read at his funeral: Last Saturday just as the shadows of evening were falling another of Nashua's veteran citizens, Theordore Brisco (better known as Dode), peacefully fell into that last long sleep after about 15 weeks in bed. It was his wish to die with the day, and God is good. For 30 years he lived at the Ed Allen home. The past 10 years with the Fred Fangmeier's. To him it was home for he had known very little of any other home life as his mother passed away when he was a small child. Theodore Brisco, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brisco, was born near Greene 70 years ago, April 6, 1871, and passed away Saturday, May 25, 1941. He leaves four half-sisters and two half-brothers, besides many friends who will miss him in the daily rounds of life, as Dode was a familiar figure on our streets.
