Deborah Ann Paxson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kendell was born at Piqua, Ohio, November 19, 1854 and passed away at her home near Packwood, Iowa, April 7, 1924, age 65 years, 4 month and 15 days. She came with her parents to Iowa when a mere babe and spent her girlhood and young womanhood at Pleasant Palin where when was married to William C. Paxson, March 4, 1874, After three years of wedded life they moved to their home near Packwood where they have since resided. To this union were born six children, all living except J. Albert, who preceded his mother to glory by a year and a half. Her husband who was her companion for over fifty years is left. The five living children are Mrs. Effie Campbell and Mrs. Emma Sanscon of Richland, Mrs. Sadie Gardner and Fred Paxson of Packwood and Leonard Paxson of Pacific Junction. She is also survived by six sisters, Mrs. Margret Humphrey of Pleasant Plain, Mrs. Katherine Walton of Brighton, Mrs. Emma Mathews of Ottumwa, Mrs. Retta Halferty of Kimberly, Idaho, Mrs. Melva Hawley of Berkeley, Calif., Mrs. Ollie Moffatt of Clearfield, Iowa and one brother, Frank Kendell of Oakland, Calif. Besides these there are 17 grandchildren, a larger number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends who will look in vain for the return of the familiar form. Sister Paxon was converted in early childhood and joint the Presbyterian church. After her marriage and settling near the Friends church, she transferred her membership to that church and has lived a consistent and faithful member to the life. Much might be said of the victorious days of her last illness. Those who were privileged to be with her were often transported to the very portals of glory because of her constant communication with her Lord and her words of exhortation and expressions of praise. It seems as if the Master permitted her to see into the very stories of the other world and to tell her friends what she saw. Her passing didn't seem much like death as it did a visitation of angels who called and simply took her away with them. "Blessed are the dead to die in the Lord."
