John Gillham Morrison

State Journal, Lincoln Nebraska, Tuesday, June 26, 1900, Page 6, Col. 2: John G. Morrison died unexpectedly yesterday morning at 6 o'clock at his home in this city, 1631 F street. He had been slightly ill for some time, but had improved much during the past week and his recovery was confidently expected. His physician an children were with him when he expired. His wife was absent at Wayne, Neb., visiting her daughter, Mrs. Wood Jones, who was recently married. Mrs. Morrison and Mr. and Mrs. Jones arrived in Lincoln last evening. The funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 o'clock at the residence, the services being conducted by Dr. Fletcher L. Wharton and Dr. Hindman. Mr. Morrison was 59 years of age. He was an attorney but had retired from practice. He came from Jacksonville, Ill., to St. Paul, Neb. After living there three years he came to Lincoln, twelve years ago. He leaves a wife and three children. He was an old soldier, having served in the 101st Illinois regiment during the civil war, and for many years he had been a member of the Knights of Pythias.
