Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2002, at West Union Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Friends may call Thursday, April 18, between 6-8 p.m. at E.K. George & Sons Belton Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Cowan was born July 16, 1943, in Eufala, OK. He was a member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Temple. He was an Army veteran serving in Korea during the Vietnam crisis. Mr. Cowan was a supervisor at the BAKAN-CALMAR Plastic Factory in Lee's Summit for 21 years, until 1982. He then went to Jerry's Sports for nine years, and to U.S. Toys until his medical disability in 1998. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvis and Ruth Cowan and half brother, Terry Peters. He is survived by his wife, Susan, of the home, his mother, Velma Peters and stepdad, Bill Peters of North Kansas City, two children, Valerie Stone of Peculiar, MO, and Phillip Cowan of Grandview, MO, a half brother, Wes Peters of North Kansas City, and three grandchildren, Abbigale, Benjamin and Kristina.
