Graveside services were held at the Alta Mesa Cemetery, Palo Alto on Friday, December 6 at 11 a.m. Services under the direction of Sneider & Sullivan Funeral Home, 977 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo.
San Mateo Times, San Mateo, California, Friday, December 6, 1974, Page 19, Col. 4: Cassius L. Kirk. Graveside services were held today at Alta Mesa Memorial Park for Cassius L. Kirk, 84, of 55 W. Fifth Ave., San Mateo. He died at Peninsula Hospital after a long illness on Wednesday.
Kirk was the co-founder and vice president of Bozeman Canning Co. which later incorporated as Pict Sweet Foods, until it was sold to Stokley-Van Camp.
A resident of San Mateo for nine years, Kirk was a native of Bozeman, Montana. He attended Montana State College and Graduated from the University of Wisconsin. After serving in the U. S. Navy during World War I, he helped found the original canning firm in Montana.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Kirk of San Mateo, three children, Cassius L. Kirk, Jr. of Menlo Park, Lawrence Kirk of San Francisco, Mrs. Patricia Dowd of Seattle. He was also the father of the late Jo-Anne Kirk. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother, Marguerite and Eleanor Kirk, both of Bozeman, and Howard Kirk of Dallas, Tex. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
Services were under the direction of the Sneider & Sullivan Funeral Home.
