Posted at findagrave.com: JAMES ELZIE HUIE was born September 16, 1881, and died June 5, 1973. He was associated in the J.W. Huie Automobile Agencies and was also a Phillips Petroleum Dealer for many years and a farmer and coal miner in early adulthood. He married Clara Hutson April 1, 1903, who was born October 30, 1878, and died April 4, 1947, and was a school teacher. Both are buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Sesser, IL.
Elzie and Clara were parents of Helen B. Huie who was born December 17, 1906, and married William A. Schettler May 5, 1940. He was born July 3, 1906, died may 9, 1987, and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Sesser, IL. Schettler was Mayor of Sesser and served several terms. Helen worked at the Sesser Post Office 37 years and was Assistant Post Mistress 10 years. A talented artist, she began painting seriously after retirement and is called "Granny-Moses" by those who know her painting abilities.
Ralph E. Huie was born September 2, 1909, and died October 13, 1981; he married Lilyan Otzwirk June 23, 1934, who was born June 8, 1913, and died February 22, 1978. Both are buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Sesser, IL.
Ralph E. owned and operated Huie Auto Sales, DuQuoin, IL, for many years where they lived and reared their daughters. Brenda, a Business Office Worker, married Andrew Murray, a Federal Meat Inspector Supervisor residing in Nebraska; they are parents of Debbie and Jeannie. Joyce, a School Bus Driver, married Charles Schimpf, a Coal Mine Employee, residing in DuQuoin; they are parents of Lisa and Larry. Clara Christina, a Drug Store Clerk, married Fred Foster, a Produce Employee living in DuQuoin with daughters Natalie and Melanie. Raymond Huie, born March 31, 1918, second son of Clara and Elzie, on July 3, 1938, married Ruth (Tommie) Duncan, born October 24, 1918, and now reside in rural Sesser. Raymond (Chic) was in the Auto/Tractor Business in early life and in later years he and wife Tommie operated Laundromat Establishments in Sesser, Zeigler, Christopher and DuQuoin. They are parents of Janet, a School Teacher married to Jack Houghland a Law Enforcement Officer in Chester, IL, where they reside. They are parents of Jack, Chester, IL, and daughters Julie and Jill of TX. Susan married Richard Stubblefield and they are owners of a Laundromat in Sesser, IL, currently living in rural Zeigler, IL, with sons Gregory, Bryan and Robert. Scott, the eldest son, resides with his wife Sheila in Royalton, IL. Louis Huie, the youngest son, disabled from a job injury, resides in rural Sesser. His son, Phillip, is with the U.S. Air Force, with Steve, Betsy and Angelia at home.
