Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Friday, January 23, 2009: Pinckneyville---Mary Ann Pioletti, 78, formerly of Sesser, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at her home. Mary was born on Jan. 20, 1931, in Sesser, a daughter to William H. and Ellen (Hale) Cockrum. She married John Pioletti on March 24, 1955, in Chester, and he survives. She graduated from Jewish School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1952 and worked several years as a nurse at Chester Hospital and St. Anne's Health Care in Chester. John and Mary had returned to Southern Illinois in 1975 after spending many years in Germany while John was serving in the United States Army. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Mary is survived by her husband; two daughters, Terri (Curt) Taylor of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Susie (Charly) Shugg of Las Vegas; one son, John (Betsy) Pioletti of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and five grandsons, Matthew, Evan, Richard, Johnathan and Justin. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Betty Pierce.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, in Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, with Pastor Mark Lee officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
