Individual Details
Francis Augustine Kirkpatrick
(8 Dec 1844 - 4 Jul 1914)
Francis "Frank" Augustine Kirkpatrick, known as Frank, was the fifth child of Jesse and Minerva Kirkpatrick. He was born 8 December 1844 in Lima township, Adams County, Illinois. On 29 September 1875 he was married in Adams County to Cynthia McCreery, who was born 22 December 1851 in Hancock County, Illinois.
Frank and Cynthia lived in Lima, Illinois until about 1883, where Frank was the senior partner in Kirkpatrick & McCreery, a mercantile business. He and his partner, Cynthia's brother James, sold dry goods, groceries, boots and shoes. Frank was a Republican and a member of the Christian Church. During this time he was also a member of the Masons, Lima Lodge #135, as was his father.
About 1883 Frank and Cynthia and their children moved to Brashear, in Adair County, Missouri. There Cynthia died on 21 November 1892. Frank died on 10 July 1914 in Waitsburg, Washington, where he had gone to live with his daughter. His obituary in the Brashear News, 10 July 1914, strongly indicates that he married a second time, and that she died shortly before he did. His second wife was probably Malinda A. Church, who was born in 1858 and died in 1914. She is buried in the Brashear Cemetery. Both Frank and Cynthia are also buried in the Brashear Cemetery.
There were two children born of the marriage.
