Eva May Eshelman

Posted at findagrave.com: Creston News Advertiser, July 27, 1971, Page 16: Eva May Chandler, daughter of Chris and Anna Eshelman was born April 20, 1890 at their farm home in Adair county, Iowa, near Bridgewater, and passed away at the Oswald Nursing Home in Creston, Wednesday, July 21, 1971, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 1 day. She lived on the same farm and grew to womanhood and attended rural school.
She was married to Jess Chandler and after their marriage they lived in Nevinville in Adams county with his two small children. She was a kind and living Mother in helping to raise the children. After the death of her husband she moved to Creston to make her home and lived alone until age and health forced her to a nursing home where she lived until she passed away.
Survivors include the stepson, Rex, his wife, Madge and their families of Newton, Iowa; the stepdaughter, Fern, and her families of Redondo, California; one sister-in-law, Vera Eshelman of Fontanelle; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 sisters: Cora Hall, Ida Strong, Stella Lewis, Lizzie Bond, Mary Coleman, Grace Knorr; two brothers: Earl and Albert who died when a young boy; and a stepdaughter, Ruby Chandler, in childhood.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the McKasson funeral home in Creston, conducted by Rev. Francis A. Crown, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial was in the Greenfield Cemetery at Greenfield, Iowa. Music was furnished by Mrs. Harold Symonds, who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus." Pallbearers were all great-nephews of the deceased: John Williamson, Bill McKee, Earl Bozwell, John Blazek, and Leo Sheriff.
