From the Tennessee State Library and Archives, Campbell County, Roll No. 12, Book 1831, page 372, type of record, Legislative Petition.
To the honorable the General Assembly of this state of Tennessee---your humble petitioner sends Greeting. Where as their oldest son Armistead Parrott being an illegitimate child, and not entitled by law to heir our estate with our other children your petitioners humbly pray your honorable boy that the above named child be made a lawful heir to all intents and purposes, to our estates on en equity is the our other children, this same as if he had been born in the true bonds of wedlock leaving it to the discretion and wisdom of your most humble body, you humble petitioners us in duty bound will ever pray.
