Armstead Parrott

(13 Apr 1776 - Bef Jul 1863)

Info from Hazel Roche: Armstead Parrott migrated from Lee County, Virginia to Knox County, Kentucky between 1800-1810. He was head of one of 912 families in Knox County, Kentucky in 1810. His wife's name may have been Louisa, she died before he did. They were the parents of 8 children.

According to one local neighborhood story, a bear chased Armstead into his house one day, and his wife then killed it with an axe. Armstead received three land grants on Parrot's Branch in Knox County, Kentucky in 1842 - two for fifty acres each and one for seventy-five acres, for a total of 175 acres of land. It is believed that Armstead is buried in the Parrott Cemetery near Parrott Branch on Big Richland in Knox County, Kentucky, in an unmarked plot. Armstead's will was written on October 20, 1860 in Knox County, Kentucky, and filed in July 1863.
