Madison Wisconsin State Journal, Madison, Wisconsin, Tuesday, September 28, 1999, Page 14, Cols. 1 & 2: Madison/Stoughton---Mary M. Bisbee, age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 26, 1999 at the Nazareth House in Stoughton. Before moving to the Nazareth House, Mary was a lifelong resident of the Westmoreland neighborhood in Madison. She was born on May 25, 1916 in Madison, the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Breitenbach) Braun and was a graduate of Madison East High School.
Mary had a passion for flowers and gardening and for many years planned and planted all the flowers around Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where she had been charter member for many years. Her yard was a haven for all the animals and one of her true joys was feeding the squirrels and birds. Mary will always be remembered as a caring and neighborly person.
She is survived by her three children, Rita (Duane) Fose of Stoughton, Fred (Jeanne) Bisbee Jr. of Madison, and James (Laura) Bisbee of Monona; four grandchildren, Jeffrey of Los Angeles, California, David of Stoughton, and Jake and Sarah of Monona; five brothers and sisters, Edmund Braun, Clara Braun, Gertrude Cross, William Braun, and Margaret Braun and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Sr.; a brother, Herman "Ham" Braun; and by infant twin brothers.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, September 30, 1999, at the Nazareth House Chapel, 814 Jackson Street, in Stoughton, at 10:30 a.m. Father Gerald Healy will officiate. A private burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nazareth House Chapel from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Thursday. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to the Dane County Humane Society or the Nazareth House.
The family appreciates and would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the Sisters and Staff of Nazareth House for the loving care that was given to their mother.
