Wilma Lathrop

Posted at findagrave.com: Mrs. Wilma L. Hays, age 69, died on Sunday, March 31, 1974 at the Deaconess Hospital in Great Falls, Montana, after a lengthy illness of cancer. She was born on August 20, 1904 in Badger, Minnesota and moved to Montana with her family in 1913. She attended schools in Dutton and Conrad, and was graduted from the Conrad High School. She taught school in the Hi-line area. She married Russell F. Hays on September 15, 1923 in Dutton, and they made their home in Conrad. She was appointed Clerk of the District Court in 1951 and then was elected to that position, which she held until her retirement in 1968. She was a member of the Soroptomist Club, past-President of the Pondera County Democratic Women's Club, a member ot the Democratic Central Committee, the Christian Women's Club, and attended the Conrad Mission Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell in August of 1955. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Jean Swank of Chester and Mrs. Fred (Patricia) Holstine of Conrad; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Doris Beringer of Cut Bank; two brothers. Paul Lathrop of Conrad and Bill Lathrop of Seattle, Washington, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were on Wednesday, April 3rd at the Conrad Mission Church, with Rev. Robert Goertz officiating, with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Holstine, Chance Eaton, Darrol Groven, Arnold Lalum, Earl Keister, and Lester Hicks.
