Oren Vance were held on Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997 at Pearson Chapel Nazarene Church with Rev. Richard Harper and Rev. J W Sheron officiating. Burial followed at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Houlka Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Vance, 78, passed away on Feb. 14, 1997 at his home in Houlka. He was born on May 22, 1918 to Henry Newman Vance and Birdie Mae Warnick Vance. He was a retired Nazarene minister with 37 and a half years at the pulpit, serving at Pearson Chapel Church of the Nazarene. He and his wife, Ruby Clark Vance, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, Roby Clark Vance; two daughters, Shirley Turner of Pontotoc and Lynne Taylor of Houlka; three sons, Johnny Vance of Rienzi, Gene Vance of Fayetteville, NC, and David Vance of Houston; two brothers, Doyle Vance of Houlka and Curtis Vance of Mountain View Ark., as well as nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Pallbearers included Hulon Vance, Gary Vance, Brian Neely, Bobby Soden, John Dodson and Jerry Vance.
