Milton Henry Sweet

Sweet, ex-sheriff of this county, and a veteran of the civil war, died Wednesday at his home on East Second street of grippe and other complications. He was born in Renasselaer county, New York, Feb. 17, 1838, his parents coming to Iowa in 1839. He married Louisa Disberry Dec. 30, 1869, who died in 1871. His second wife was Marie McCaulley, who died in 1905. May 1, 1907, he married Adella Kirkpatrick, who with one son, Fred, of Brighton, and a brother S. D. of Troy. N. Y., survive him. He enlisted in Company A, Second Iowa cavalry, and served thruout (sic) the war. He then engaged in farming near Brighton, until he was elected sheriff. Since that time he has lived in Washington.
